Court Revokes Arrest Warrant for PTI Leader Zartaj Gul

ISLAMABAD, Feb 12 (Alliance News): A district and sessions court in Islamabad on Wednesday revoked a non-bailable arrest warrant issued against Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Zartaj Gul after she appeared before the court.

Civil Judge Mubashir Hassan had issued the warrant in a case registered at Barakahu police station due to her repeated failure to appear. However, upon her arrival two hours after the warrant was issued, the judge cancelled it, stating, “I am cancelling her warrant as she is here in person.” The court adjourned the proceedings until March 12.

The case involves charges against Gul and other PTI leaders related to the party’s 2022 “Azadi March” towards Islamabad. PTI founder Imran Khan and senior leader Shah Mahmood Qureshi have already been acquitted in the case. The protest followed Khan’s ouster through a no-confidence vote and led to clashes between PTI workers and law enforcement.

Since Khan’s removal from office and the events of May 9, PTI leaders have faced multiple legal cases linked to protests, vandalism, and confrontations with law enforcement. Khan, along with senior figures like Qureshi and Dr. Yasmin Rashid, remains in custody due to ongoing legal proceedings.
