PM Shehbaz Commends Snooker Champion Muhammad Asif for SAARC Win

ISLAMABAD, Jan 25 (Alliance News): Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif praised young Pakistani athletes for bringing global recognition to the country and reaffirmed the government’s commitment to supporting their endeavors.

The prime minister met with Snooker Champion Muhammad Asif on Saturday, congratulating him on his recent victory at the SAARC Snooker Championship held in Sri Lanka. He also presented a prize cheque worth Rs. 2.5 million to Asif during the meeting, according to a press release from the PM Office Media Wing.

“You have brought pride to Pakistan through your exceptional talent in snooker. The entire nation stands proud of your achievements,” the prime minister said.

He lauded Asif for securing the World Amateur Snooker Championship and the SAARC Snooker Championship three times, showcasing his excellence on the international stage.

Muhammad Asif expressed gratitude to the prime minister for recognizing his contributions to sports at the national level.

He emphasized the importance of government support in promoting athletics, saying such recognition motivates athletes to strive for excellence.

The prime minister instructed relevant authorities to collaborate with Asif on initiatives to improve the training of snooker players, aiming to foster greater interest and talent development among Pakistani youth.
