Protests Ahead of SCO Summit Damage Pakistan’s Prestige, Says TJP Chairman Abdullah Gul

ISLAMABAD, Oct 5 (Alliance News): Chairman of Tehreek-e-Jawanaan Pakistan (TJP), Mohammad Abdullah Gul, criticized Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) for organizing protests ahead of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) summit, stating that such actions harm the nation’s reputation.

In his statement on Saturday, Gul expressed concern over PTI’s protest plans during the SCO conference in Islamabad. He noted that protests and demonstrations often coincide with important international events, tarnishing Pakistan’s image on the global stage.

Gul recalled that three years ago, protests occurred during the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) conference in Islamabad, which he said significantly damaged the country’s prestige. He emphasized that the upcoming SCO summit is a crucial event for Pakistan, and PTI’s protest at D-Chowk risks further reputational harm.

While acknowledging the right of political parties and citizens to protest, Gul urged them to avoid such demonstrations during international conferences to prevent further embarrassment for the country.
