LAHORE, Nov 25 (Alliance News): Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz emphasized her unwavering stance against violence and oppression towards women, declaring that women are her “red line” and any such acts are intolerable.
In a message on the International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women, the Chief Minister highlighted the respect and rights given to women in Islam, calling it both a social tradition and a religious value.
She noted that Islam was the first to mandate respect and full rights for women, citing the Sunnah of the Holy Prophet Muhammad (PBUH).
Maryam Nawaz condemned violence against women, stating that those who commit such acts are “cowards and criminals” who will be dealt with sternly. She reiterated that the protection of women remains a top priority for the Punjab government.
The Chief Minister lauded the establishment of a virtual women’s police station, a first for Punjab, where women in distress can register complaints. She also pointed out features such as the “pink button” for immediate police assistance in emergencies and a fully operational women’s police helpline.
She assured that her government is committed to ensuring women’s rights and creating a violence-free, safe, and equitable society, calling it a prerequisite for societal progress and development.
