ISLAMABAD, Feb 20 ( Alliance News): At least five terrorists were killed in an operation by security forces in the merged North Waziristan district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and a soldier was martyred while fighting the terrorists.
On February 20, security forces conducted an intelligence-led operation in the North Waziristan district on a tip-off about the presence of terrorists, according to a statement issued by the Pakistan Army’s Public Relations Department (ISPR).
Five terrorists were killed in the exchange of fire, out of which four have been identified while the process of identification of one fifth terrorist is underway.
Weapons and ammunition were also recovered from the slain terrorists, including sub-machine guns, grenades and a large number of caliber rounds, the statement said.
It further said that the slain terrorists were involved in terrorist activities, targeted killings and kidnappings for ransom against the security forces.
Meanwhile, soldier Shabbir Ahmed while fighting with Bahaduri was injured due to heavy shelling of terrorists and succumbed to his injuries.

Earlier, on February 14, security forces in North Waziristan foiled a suicide attack on a check post and killed the attacker.
According to a statement issued by ISPR, a terrorist entered a military check post in Dosali area of North Waziristan district and opened fire with small arms and also tried to fire a grenade.
It was reported that the military personnel had responded effectively to the terrorists and as a result the terrorist was killed and weapons and ammunition were also recovered from the possession of the slain terrorist.
Earlier, on February 6, terrorists from the banned Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) from Afghanistan carried out an operation in Kurram district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, killing five Pakistani soldiers.
Earlier, security forces killed a suicide bomber in an intelligence-led operation near Dial Road in the Tank area of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
