ISLAMABAD, May 9 (Alliance News): Pakistan on Thursday strongly condemned India’s unprovoked aggression, accusing it of rejecting a peaceful investigation offer and violating international laws, according to Foreign Office spokesperson Shafqat Ali Khan.
Addressing the weekly press briefing, the spokesperson said that India’s attack on the night of May 7 was a direct assault on Pakistan’s sovereignty and territorial integrity. “India chose aggression over dialogue, leaving Pakistan with the right to respond under the UN Charter,” he said.
He warned that India’s war hysteria posed a serious threat to regional peace. “Pakistan has shown maximum restraint despite India’s provocations, including drone attacks on multiple cities,” he stated, adding that no responsible state should launch attacks based on unverified social media claims.
The spokesperson criticized India’s decision to suspend the Indus Waters Treaty, calling it illegal and unilateral. “India cannot suspend this treaty at will; millions of Pakistanis depend on this water for survival,” he said.
He also dismissed statements made by the Indian Foreign Secretary and denounced New Delhi’s history of blocking joint investigations, citing the Mumbai and Pathankot incidents. “Even in the case of Kulbhushan Jadhav, India refused to cooperate, despite clear evidence of espionage and terrorism,” he added.
Khan revealed that the recent Indian aggression caused damage to parts of the Neelum-Jhelum Hydropower Project, potentially impacting Pakistan’s energy and agriculture sectors.
He reminded the world that it was India itself that had internationalized the Kashmir issue by taking it to the United Nations.
