ISLAMABAD, Mar 07 ( Alliance News): Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi has said that the Chinese Red Cross will provide as much humanitarian aid as possible to Ukraine. He also praised Russia’s friendship with his country, calling it “as strong as a rock.”
Instead of condemning Russia’s attack on Ukraine or calling it a military operation, China has asked Western countries to respect Russia’s “legitimate security concerns,” according to forign media.
The Chinese Foreign Minister said that the reasons for the situation in Ukraine are complex and did not happen overnight.
Addressing a news conference on the sidelines of the annual session of the Chinese parliament, he said “the solution to complex problems requires calm and rationality, rather than fueling differences.”
He added that China has already done “some work” to promote peace talks and is in touch with all parties.
The Chinese Foreign Minister said that China is ready to continue to play a constructive role in promoting dialogue and moving towards peace and to work with the international community for necessary mediation when needed.
He said China was ready to work for a solution to the humanitarian crisis and that the country’s Red Cross would send aid to Ukraine “as soon as possible”.
However, he did not give details of the aid and said it was the first time that such aid had been announced by China.
Wang Yi said that China suggests that “humanitarian aid operations” should be subject to the principles of neutrality and that humanitarian issues should not be viewed as politics.
Russian President Vladimir Putin is thought to have met with Chinese President Xi Jinping before the start of the Winter Olympics last month and signed a broad-based strategic partnership to break US influence. No aspect is forbidden.
The Chinese Foreign Minister said that the prospects for cooperation between China and Russia are as strong as another rock.
He further added that no matter how bad the international situation may be, both China and Russia will continue to maintain their strategic commitment and continue to pursue a comprehensive strategic partnership of harmony in the new era.
