ISLAMABAD, Feb 04 ( Alliance News): The 2022 Winter Olympics kicked off in the Chinese capital, Beijing, with a colorful opening ceremony attended by Prime Minister Imran Khan, Russian President Vladimir Putin and other heads of state.

According to foreign media, the opening ceremony of the Winter Olympics was attended by Chinese President Xi Jinping, Russian President Vladimir Putin, Pakistani Prime Minister Imran Khan, Uzbek President and other heads of state.

Despite the dangers of Code-19, the Winter Olympics began with strict rules, with several countries, including the United States, announcing a diplomatic boycott, accusing them of human rights abuses.

The United States, Britain and Australia topped the list of countries that did not send official representatives to attend the opening ceremony.

The opening ceremony began as Chinese President Xi Jinping and International Olympic Committee Chairman Thomas Beach entered the Bird’s Nest Stadium, where flags of 91 countries participating in the Games were flying.

The director of the Beijing Winter Olympics is Zheng Yimu, who also hosted the 2008 Beijing Summer Games.

At the opening ceremony, 3,000 artists performed at the Winter Olympics, featuring ordinary artists from Beijing and the nearby province of Hebei, entitled “Story of Snowflake.”

Zheng Yimu said the opening ceremony presented a changed world landscape, including the Corona pandemic, and said that evil forces were trying to discredit China.

He said that in the complex global situation, the Winter Olympics would be a reflection of the confidence, pride and love that the Chinese people have for the people of the world.
