ISLAMABAD, Sep 29 (Alliance News): The Islamabad Policy Research Institute (IPRI) hosted the launch of Syed Hasan Javed’s book, How China Became Rich – From Poverty to Prosperity: An Eyewitness Perspective.
The book explores China’s journey from poverty to becoming one of the world’s leading economies through a series of reforms, according to a press release on Sunday.
In his opening remarks, IPRI President Dr. Raza Muhammad emphasized that Pakistan could learn valuable lessons from China’s success in eradicating poverty.
Author Syed Hasan Javed highlighted that China’s transformation was driven by a mindset change among its people, who embraced learning and knowledge.
He credited Deng Xiaoping’s leadership for spearheading economic reforms, including the creation of Special Economic Zones, which helped alleviate poverty and strengthen China’s financial assets.
Javed noted that Pakistan, like China, must first stabilize its economy and financial systems to fully realize its potential. He stressed that change must begin at the grassroots level, with a focus on education and knowledge.
The author also pointed out the deep cultural and historical ties between Pakistan and China, suggesting that both nations can benefit from each other’s experiences.
