ICC appoints Former CEO PCB Wasim Khan as General Manager Cricket

ISLAMABAD, April 23 ( Alliance News): The International Cricket Council (ICC) has announced that Wasim Khan, former chief executive of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), has been appointed ICC General Manager Cricket.

According to the ICC, Wasim Khan, who has also served as chief executive of Leicestershire County Cricket Club and Chance to Shine, will take over next month.

The ICC says it will take over the post from Geoff Allardyce, who has held the post for the past eight years before being appointed ICC CEO.

Referring to the outgoing ICC General Manager Cricket, the press release said, “I am delighted to welcome Wasim Khan to the ICC. Knowledgeable and their experience in international cricket will be invaluable in implementing and advancing the ICC World Cricket Development Strategy.

On the other hand, Wasim Khan has expressed happiness over his appointment and said that he considers it an honor to join the ICC.

“I look forward to working with my members to develop the game and take it further,” he said.

“I am very excited about the ICC’s commitment to the development of women’s cricket and I look forward to playing my part in this over the next decade,” said Wasim Khan.

It may be recalled that Wasim Khan had assumed responsibilities in the PCB on February 1, 2019 on a three-year contract, but he had resigned from the post of Chief Executive of the Board in September last year, four months before the end of his contract.

Wasim Khan holds an MBA from Wark Business School and is a former professional cricketer.

He played county cricket in England from 1995 to 2001. During his county career, he represented Warwickshire, Sussex and Derbyshire.

He has also played cricket in Australia, New Zealand and South Africa. During his first-class cricket career, Wasim Khan scored 2,835 runs in 58 matches with the help of 5 centuries and 17 half-centuries, in which his career best. The score was 181 runs.
