The Algerian ambassador called for an immediate ceasefire in Gaza

ISLAMABAD, Feb 28 (Alliance News): In support of the Palestinians, in an effort to help halt Israeli aggression on the Gaza Strip, Algeria’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Ambassador Amar BENDJAMA, introduced a resolution calling for an immediate ceasefire in Gaza for humanitarian reasons.

In an effort to support the innocent Palestinian, Algerian envoy Amar BENDJAMA, presented a draft resolution to the Security Council demanding an immediate ceasefire for humanitarian reasons.

Within the framework of Algeria’s continuing efforts to support the Palestinian cause and to stop the Israeli aggression on the Gaza Strip, Algeria, in its capacity as a non-permanent member of the UN Security Council, presented a draft resolution before the Security Council meeting on February 20, demanding an immediate cessation for humanitarian reasons and ensuring the full, rapid and continuous delivery of humanitarian aid and in the appropriate size.

To Palestinian civilians, the resolution draft also demands the rejection of the forced displacement of the Palestinian population, the compliance of all parties with international law, and the immediate and unconditional release of all hostages.

It is important mentioned here, the Algerian projected draft received the approval of 13 members, while the United States of America objected to it, using its veto power against the resolution, and Britain abstained from voting.

After voting on the draft resolution, the Permanent Representative of Algeria to the United Nations, Ambassador Amar BENDJAMA, said, “This draft resolution carried a strong message to the Palestinians that the world does not remain silent in the face of their plight; but unfortunately, the Council failed once again to rise to the level of the peoples’ calls.” And its aspirations. This failure does not absolve it from carrying out its responsibilities, does not absolve the international community from its duties towards the defenseless Palestinian people, and does not absolve the occupation authorities from the duty of implementing the provisional measures of the International Court of Justice. It is time for the aggression to stop. We can facilitate the arrival of humanitarian aid to all parts of Gaza”.

“The current situation requires everyone, as confirmed by the President of the Republic, Mr. Abdelmadjid TEBBOUNE, “to work to uphold the principles and purposes of the United Nations, provide the necessary protection for the Palestinian people, and put an end to the historical injustice directed at them” “The peoples of our region have been and continue to be It looks to the Security Council as the symbol of international legitimacy, but unfortunately it has failed it once again. So ask yourselves and your consciences about the outcome of your decisions and how history will judge you”.

The Algerian representative to the United Nations concluded by saying, “We will bury our martyrs this evening in Palestine, and that Algeria will return tomorrow in the name of the Arab and Islamic nation and the free people of the world, and with us are the lives of thousands of innocents that the Israeli occupier took without accountability or punishment. Algeria will return to knock on the doors of the Council, and demand an end to the bath of blood in Palestine, and we will not stop until this council bears its full responsibilities and calls for a ceasefire, for we have tireless souls and untiring determination.”
