ISLAMABAD, June 20 (Alliance News): The Israeli military says Israeli warplanes hit Hamas military bases in the Gaza Strip yesterday, firing rockets from the Islamic Movement-run Palestinian enclave.
The military said in a statement that “in response to a recent rocket attack, (Israeli military) planes shot down several Hamas terrorists in the Gaza Strip.” The target was targeted.
He said the strikes were carried out by Hamas “after rockets were fired at Israeli civilians in southern Israel” and that Hamas’ plan had been thwarted by Israel’s air defense.
The statement said that the Israeli plane hit a weapons manufacturing site inside a Hamas military post and three more Hamas military posts.
Flames were seen flying in the air after the attacks, causing thick smoke to spread in the area.
Hamas spokesman Hazem Qasim said after the killing of three Palestinians that the airstrikes in the southeast of Gaza City were “like an escalation of aggression on Jerusalem and Palestinian territory in the occupied West Bank.”
Hazem Qasim did not mention any casualties in Saturday’s airstrikes.
