Leading Indian singer Lata Mangeshkar passed away

ISLAMABAD, Feb 06 ( Alliance News ): Leading Indian singer Lata Mangeshkar has died at the age of 92 after a short illness.

According to India Today, Lata Mangeshkar has been undergoing treatment in the intensive care unit for the past few weeks, where her health has deteriorated again after showing some signs of improvement.

Lata Mangeshkar contracted corona on January 8 last month and had pneumonia and has been in hospital ever since.

The last rites of national honor and two days of mourning have been announced for Lata Mangeshkar on Indian state television.

He was kept on the ventilator in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) in critical condition for about 20 days, but after his health improved last week, he was removed from the ventilator and placed on oxygen.

The day before, his health had deteriorated and he was transferred to a ventilator.

Even in the year 2019, Lata Mangeshkar was undergoing treatment in the hospital for one month due to respiratory problems. Still, the doctors had already clarified that she could be kept in the hospital for several days due to her poor age.

Lata Mangeshkar is considered to be the most popular singer of all time in India. She has been equally popular in other South Asian countries besides Pakistan.

Born on September 28, 1929 in Indore, Madhya Pradesh, Lata Mangeshkar was the eldest of five siblings.

He started singing at the age of 13 after the death of his father in 1942 and sang about 30,000 songs in various languages ​​spoken in India.

He never got married and his younger sister Asha Bhosle is also a famous singer.

Lata Mangeshkar has been awarded India’s biggest civil awards Bharat Ratna, Padma Vibhushan and Padma Bhush besides Dada Sahib Phalke Award.

She started singing as a playback singer and her loud voice soon became very important for Bollywood blockbusters.

Due to his immense fame, he was invited by the government to sing a patriotic tribute to the soldiers killed in the 1962 Indo-China War at the Indian Republic Day celebrations in January 1963.

It is said that Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru had tears in his eyes when he heard Lata Mangeshkar’s song ‘O people of my homeland’.

Expressing condolences on his death, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi said that the void created by his departure could never be filled.

Pioneer of Indian culture Lata Mangeshkar, along with her younger sister superstar Asha Bhunsle, has dominated Bollywood music for over half a century and is considered by many to be one of the greatest playback singers in the Indian film industry.

Lata Mangeshkar should never be ashamed to present her case for an increase in her salary or for a share of the royalties earned on her songs.

His longevity and discipline allowed the young actresses who were 50 years younger than him to benefit from the magic of his voice.

Critics complained that the charm of his voice left little room for new singers to thrive, but his listeners remained loyal to him and ensured that his songs continued to set records.

She was also known for some of her unique qualities, such as she never sang with her shoes on and always wrote by hand before recording each song.

Lata Mangeshkar was awarded India’s highest civilian honor, the Bharat Ratna, in 2001. In recognition of her efforts in Indian music and cinema, she received the French Legion d’Honneur in 2009.

Lata Mangeshkar, who dropped out of school in her hometown of Indore, was fluent in several languages. She said she only took classes one day.

In addition to recording lyrics and classical albums, he has sung in over a thousand films, to his credit there are approximately 27,000 songs in dozens of languages, including English, Russian, Dutch and Swahili.
