ISLAMABAD, Oct 17 (Alliance News): Finance Minister Senator Muhammad Aurangzeb reiterated the government’s dedication to advancing broad-based reforms in taxation, energy, and state-owned enterprises (SOEs) during a meeting with US Ambassador Donald Blome.
The two discussed bilateral cooperation and matters of mutual interest.
Aurangzeb emphasized the government’s goal to raise Pakistan’s tax-to-GDP ratio to 13.5% by addressing tax leakages and incorporating untaxed sectors.
He also highlighted the transformation plan for the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) and the involvement of IT experts from PRAL.
He acknowledged ongoing macroeconomic reforms and pointed to larger challenges like climate change and child stunting, which could hinder economic stability and growth.
Aurangzeb sought technical and financial support from development partners to build climate resilience and combat malnutrition.
Ambassador Blome praised Pakistan’s efforts to improve macroeconomic stability and lauded the government’s bold reforms, reaffirming the US’s commitment to fostering bilateral cooperation and promoting US investment in Pakistan’s economic growth.
