Islamabad Set to Launch Two Major Interchange Projects to Alleviate Traffic Woes

ISLAMABAD, Nov 1 (Alliance News): On the directive of Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi, Islamabad is set to launch two major infrastructure projects aimed at addressing persistent traffic challenges and enhancing convenience for residents of Islamabad and neighboring areas.

The foundation stones for the Serena Chowk Interchange and F-8 Exchange Chowk Interchange will be laid on November 5, marking the start of rapid development in the capital’s traffic flow management.

The Serena Chowk Interchange, initially planned for a 10-month completion, will now be finished within three months and will include two underpasses and connecting roads.

The F-8 Exchange Chowk Interchange, originally expected to take 12 months, will now be completed within four months and will feature one flyover, an underpass, and connecting roads.

Minister Naqvi instructed the Capital Development Authority (CDA) to expedite these projects by working around the clock, as well as approved an alternative traffic plan to manage flow during construction.

A special traffic management unit will operate 24/7 to ensure smooth traffic movement around the construction zones, with Interior Minister Naqvi emphasizing the importance of timely relocation of service lines from the project sites.

Further plans to improve traffic flow at the Faizabad Interchange were also discussed, with Chief Traffic Officer Islamabad Sarfraz Virk providing insights into the temporary traffic management strategy during the construction phase.
