ISLAMABAD, May 8 (Alliance News) – The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has issued a weather advisory forecasting widespread rain, thunderstorms, and isolated hailstorms across much of the country from May 8 to 12 due to a westerly wave and incoming moist currents.
According to the advisory issued Wednesday, the system is expected to first impact upper and central regions before moving southward. The PMD has warned of potential hailstorms and heavy rainfall in isolated areas and urged authorities to remain vigilant.
In Kashmir, areas such as Neelum Valley, Muzaffarabad, Rawalakot, and Poonch are likely to receive rain and thunderstorms with occasional heavy falls and hail from May 8 to 12. Gilgit-Baltistan districts including Diamir, Astore, Skardu, Gilgit, Hunza, Ghanche, and Shigar are expected to experience similar weather during the same period.
In Punjab and Islamabad, rain, thunderstorms, and isolated hailstorms are expected between May 7 (night) and May 11, particularly in Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Murree, Attock, and Lahore. Southern Punjab districts such as Multan, Dera Ghazi Khan, and Bahawalpur are likely to be affected from May 8 to 10.
Khyber Pakhtunkhwa regions including Swat, Mansehra, Abbottabad, and Peshawar may witness heavy rainfall and hailstorms from May 7 (night) to May 12. Southern KP areas like D.I. Khan and Waziristan are expected to be impacted from May 8 to 10.

The PMD cautioned that windstorms and hail could damage infrastructure, including power lines, trees, and solar panels. Farmers have been advised to take necessary precautions and manage their wheat harvesting accordingly.
Authorities across all potentially affected regions have been urged to implement preventive measures and stay alert to ensure public safety and minimize damage.
