PSL: Multan Sultans continue to fly, defeating Peshawar Zalmi by 57 runs

ISLAMABAD, Feb 06 ( Alliance News): In the 13th match of Pakistan Super League (PSL) 2022, Multan Sultans showed great bowling after batting brilliantly and defeated Peshawar Zalmi by 57 runs to claim their fifth consecutive victory.

The PSL being played at National Stadium Karachi, Peshawar Zalmi’s captain Wahab Riaz won the toss and invited Multan Sultans to bat first.

Multan Sultan’s openers Shaun Masood and captain Mohammad Rizwan gave the team a great start by batting aggressively.

Shaun Masood played an innings of 35 runs off 25 balls with the help of 5 fours and when the team’s score reached 85 runs, Shoaib got out on the ball of Malik.

Captain Mohammad Rizwan continued batting and completed his half century.

Sohaib Maqsood supported the captain till the score of 127 and played 27 runs with the help of a four and sixes and was bowled by Usman Qadir.

Mohammad Rizwan was the third and last batsman to be dismissed, who faced 53 balls and scored 82 runs with the help of 8 fours and a six.

Tim David batted aggressively and hit six sixes off Zalmai’s bowlers, scoring 51 off 19 balls.

Khushdal Shah faced 7 balls, in which he played an innings of 21 runs with the help of 3 sixes.

Multan Sultans have scored 222 runs for the loss of 3 wickets in the stipulated 20 overs.

Peshawar Zalmi’s experienced opener Kamran Akmal scored 10 runs and helped the team to start with 24 runs.

Haider Ali was the second batsman to be dismissed who scored 24 off 12 balls with the help of 4 fours and a six and became the wicket of Shahnawaz Dhani at 55.

Shoaib Malik, who helped Peshawar win the last match, scored 11 off 14 balls and was dismissed for 84.

Sharfin Rutherford was out for 93 and he faced 4 balls and scored 2 runs.

Imran Tahir caught Zalmai’s highest run-scoring opener Hazratullah Zazai at the hands of Sohaib Maqsood on a total of 93 and saved Zalmai from serious difficulties.

Wahab Riaz came to bat at number six but could make only 2 runs but he was bowled by Abbas Afridi.

Usman Qadir made 12 runs and caught Muhammad Rizwan behind the wickets on the ball of Shahnawaz Dhani.

Mohammad Omar was the last batsman to be dismissed, scoring just three runs.

Ben Cutting scored 52 runs without getting out.

Peshawar Zalmi scored 165 for 8 in the allotted overs and lost the match by 57 runs which is their third defeat this season.

Mohammad Rizwan was declared the best player of the match for his brilliant performance.

It should be noted that Multan Sultans are at the top of the table with 8 points successfully scored in all the four matches played so far.

Peshawar Zalmi won two of the four matches and lost two.
