ISLAMABAD, Feb 27 ( Alliance News ): The world’s richest man Elon Musk, has come forward in support of Ukraine and offered StarLink satellite service in the country to counter Russian attacks.
He has decided to offer its services after the Deputy Prime Minister of Ukraine requested and hoped that Elon Musk would provide satellite communications to help prevent a Russian invasion.
Internet services in Ukraine have been affected since the Russian invasion, especially in the south and east, where fighting is most intense.
Elon Musk said in a Twitter response to a message from a Ukrainian government official that the StarLink service is now active in Ukraine and more terminals are arriving there.

This will create a cluster of satellites providing internet which will be a cheap alternative to the ground system.
Elon Musk had earlier donated 50 satellite terminals to the Tonga and Tsunami-affected islands to restore Internet services.
Satellite technology can be used to provide internet services in villages or even in places where fiber optic cable and mobile towers are not accessible.
Such technology is considered important for maintaining communication during natural disasters.
Elon Musk announced on January 15 that 1469 Star Link satellites were in operation and another 272 would be operational soon.
