ASHGABAT, Dec 12 (Alliance News): Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif engaged with global leaders on Friday during an international forum marking the International Year of Peace and Trust 2025, the International Day of Neutrality, and the anniversary of Turkmenistan’s status of permanent neutrality.
The gathering brought together heads of state and senior delegates to discuss global peace, stability and the importance of diplomatic cooperation.
On the sidelines of the forum, the prime minister held brief yet warm interactions with Russian President Vladimir Putin, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, Tajikistan’s President Emomali Rahmon and Kyrgyz President Sadyr Zhaparov.
Their exchanges, though informal, reflected shared interests and ongoing dialogue on regional matters, particularly security and connectivity.
A video released by the Prime Minister’s Office captured Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif warmly holding hands with President Putin and Kyrgyz President Zhaparov in separate conversations, indicating cordial ties and mutual respect.
The friendly engagements drew attention as leaders gathered in a private room for informal discussions on various issues.
Earlier in the day, the prime minister addressed the forum, reaffirming Pakistan’s commitment to peaceful resolution of international disputes and the strengthening of multilateral cooperation.
He called on the global community to play a more proactive role in urging the Afghan Taliban to meet their international obligations and prevent terrorist groups from using Afghan soil for cross-border attacks.
Prime Minister Shehbaz also joined other world leaders at Ashgabat’s iconic Neutrality Monument, where they participated in a wreath-laying ceremony before returning to the forum for detailed discussions.
His presence at the event underscored Pakistan’s support for initiatives promoting global harmony and dialogue-based conflict resolution.
