ISLAMABAD, Dec 12 (Alliance News): Minister of State for Interior Talal Chaudhry met the United Kingdom’s Minister of State for International Development and Africa, Baroness Chapman of Darlington, on Friday to discuss Pakistan–UK relations and matters of mutual interest, with a particular focus on security cooperation, extradition issues and immigration coordination.
During the meeting, the two sides reviewed the regional security landscape, including developments in Afghanistan and their implications for both countries. They also discussed Pakistan’s pending extradition requests with the United Kingdom, reaffirming the need for strengthened legal and security cooperation.
A key part of the conversation centered on the Upscale Programme, through which Pakistan and the UK work together to combat serious crimes and support the relocation process for Afghan nationals moving to the United Kingdom.
Talal Chaudhry stressed that collaboration under the Upscale Programme would be expanded to ensure more effective action against serious offences and deeper institutional cooperation between the two countries.
Baroness Chapman lauded Pakistan’s continued efforts to improve immigration coordination and expressed the UK government’s commitment to enhancing joint initiatives across security and mobility-related areas.
The meeting concluded with a shared resolve to strengthen bilateral cooperation in security, immigration and regional stability, reaffirming the longstanding partnership between Pakistan and the United Kingdom.
