ISLAMABAD, Dec 13 (Alliance News): Chief of Defence Forces (CDF) and Chief of Army Staff (COAS) Field Marshal Asim Munir has reiterated the Pakistan Army’s complete preparedness and unwavering commitment to confront all internal and external challenges while ensuring national stability, the military’s media wing said on Saturday.
According to a statement issued by the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), Field Marshal Munir made these remarks during his visit to the Gujranwala and Sialkot Garrisons, where he was briefed on the formations’ operational readiness and key initiatives aimed at enhancing combat preparedness.
He said the Pakistan Army remained fully focused on countering hostile hybrid campaigns, extremist ideologies and divisive elements seeking to undermine the country’s stability.
During the visit, the CDF observed a field training exercise and reviewed an advanced simulator training facility.
He lauded the high professional standards of the troops and expressed satisfaction over their overall state of readiness.
Emphasising the evolving nature of modern warfare, Field Marshal Munir stressed the importance of technological adaptability, noting that contemporary conflicts demand agility, precision, situational awareness and swift decision-making.
Interacting with officers and soldiers, the CDF praised their high morale and steadfast commitment to national security.
He underscored the need for rigorous, mission-oriented training to meet emerging security challenges effectively.
The Ministry of Defence had earlier issued an official notification appointing Field Marshal Munir as the Chief of Defence Forces. Promoted to the rank of Field Marshal earlier this year, he will continue to serve concurrently as Chief of Army Staff for a five-year term.
His elevation followed Pakistan’s victory over India in the May conflict, making him the country’s second Field Marshal and the first in more than six decades.
The creation of the CDF post came after President Asif Ali Zardari approved amendments to the Pakistan Army, Air Force and Navy Acts in November, following their passage by parliament.
Under the amended provisions, Article 243, which defines the powers and responsibilities of a Field Marshal, also applies to any general promoted to the rank.
Earlier this week, Field Marshal Munir was presented a guard of honour at the newly established Defence Forces Headquarters in Rawalpindi.
On the occasion, he warned India of a more severe response in the event of any future aggression and said a clear message had been conveyed to the Afghan Taliban regarding Pakistan’s security concerns.
Reaffirming that Pakistan is a peace-loving nation, the Field Marshal cautioned that no one would be allowed to threaten the country’s sovereignty or territorial integrity.
He described the recent structural reforms in the armed forces as historic, saying they were essential to strengthening multi-domain operations under a unified command of the army, air force and navy.
