ISLAMABAD, April 10 (Alliance News): US Vice President JD Vance arrived in Islamabad on Friday to participate in crucial ceasefire talks with Iran, aimed at easing regional tensions.
Upon arrival at Nur Khan Airbase, the US vice president was received by Pakistan’s Army Chief Asim Munir, Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar, Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi, along with other senior officials.

According to officials, the US vice president’s aircraft took an extended route to reach Pakistan, avoiding the airspace of Middle Eastern countries. The journey began from Maryland, with a stopover of about two and a half hours in Paris before continuing to Islamabad.
The flight departed Paris at around 3 am Pakistan time and did not pass through Afghan airspace. Instead, it travelled via Georgia, Azerbaijan, Turkmenistan, and Tajikistan, entering Pakistani airspace near Chitral before landing at 10:33 am.

The US delegation also includes senior officials such as Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner, who will participate in the negotiations.
Before departure, Vance told media he was hopeful about the outcome of the talks, stating that the United States is ready for constructive engagement if Iran demonstrates sincerity. However, he warned that any attempt to delay or undermine the process would not be accepted.

Meanwhile, a high-level Iranian delegation has also arrived in Islamabad for the talks. According to Pakistan’s Foreign Office, the Iranian team is led by Parliament Speaker Mohammad Baqer Qalibaf.
The talks, hosted by Pakistan, are being closely watched as a significant diplomatic effort to maintain the ceasefire and explore a broader peace framework in the region.
