Hanif Abbasi Assures Improved Facilities for Mourners During Muharram

ISLAMABAD, Jun 18 (Alliance News): Federal Minister for Railways Muhammad Hanif Abbasi on Wednesday met with a delegation of Anjuman Imamia Asna Ashriya Rawalpindi to discuss preparations for Muharram-ul-Haram 1447 AH and address key challenges faced by mourners during religious processions and gatherings.

The delegation, led by President Syed Mushtaq Shah, included General Secretary Syed Mujtaba Naqvi, Vice President Mohsin Bhatt, Finance Secretary Jaffar Bhatt, Joint Secretary Syed Ali Naqvi, and Information Secretary Syed Ejaz Shah.

During the meeting, the delegation highlighted various issues including obstruction along procession routes, lack of drinking water, poor sanitation, and inadequate security arrangements.

They raised concerns over unnecessary blockades that often cause difficulty for participants and stressed the urgent need for clean water and cleanliness in areas along the routes of major processions.

Responding to the concerns, Minister Hanif Abbasi directed the Commissioner of Rawalpindi to personally evaluate and address the identified issues on an urgent basis.

He assured the delegation that the government considers the provision of essential facilities during Muharram a top priority.

“Provision of clean water, sanitation, and security for mourners must be ensured without any delay. All concerned departments have been given clear instructions in this regard,” he stated.

The delegation expressed appreciation for the minister’s prompt action and hoped for more efficient arrangements during the upcoming Muharram.
