ISLAMABAD, June 17 (Alliance News): Federal Law Minister Senator Azam Nazeer Tarar has assured the Senate that the Ministry of Finance and other relevant departments are actively reviewing the upper house’s recommendations during the ongoing budget talks for fiscal year 2025–26.
Speaking during Tuesday’s session, Tarar responded to Opposition Leader Senator Shibli Faraz’s concerns, stating that daily meetings of both the Senate and National Assembly Finance Committees are underway, with the active participation of the Finance Minister, FBR officials, and representatives from all major political parties.
He said the Senate is fulfilling its constitutional duty by formally forwarding its suggestions to the National Assembly.
“Senators are presenting their proposals and concerns, and voting is conducted where necessary,” the minister noted, adding that he himself is regularly attending these meetings.
Tarar highlighted that, unlike in previous years, senior ministers are now personally present in both the House and committee sessions, marking a shift toward transparency and responsiveness.
Senator Irfan-ul-Haque Siddiqui also supported the Opposition Leader’s observations, agreeing that all suggestions deserve attention. He added that Finance Ministry officials are not only attending but taking detailed notes, and that the Finance Minister is personally overseeing the process.
Siddiqui said senators are submitting their recommendations in writing to the finance committees to ensure proper documentation and review.
