ISLAMABAD, June 12 (Alliance News): Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has assigned the additional portfolio of Minister of State for Finance to Bilal Azhar Kayani, who is currently serving as Minister of State for Railways and Head of the PM’s Delivery Unit.
The Cabinet Division issued a notification on Wednesday confirming Kayani’s appointment under rule 3(4) of the Rules of Business 1973, with immediate effect.
Kayani, a Member of the National Assembly from Jhelum, holds several key roles, including membership in the Executive Committee of the Commonwealth Parliamentary Association (CPA) and the position of Convener of the UK-Pakistan Parliamentary Friendship Group.
Politically, he serves as the Assistant Secretary General of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N).
He has also been a member of the National Assembly’s Standing Committees on Finance & Revenue, Law & Justice, and Economic Affairs, and previously convened the Parliamentary Taskforce on Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
Kayani, who holds a degree in Economics from University College London, has served as Coordinator to the Prime Minister on Economy and Energy in the 2022–23 PML-N-led coalition government.
His past professional experience includes roles at JPMorgan, the Ministry of Finance, and the Privatisation Commission.
