ISLAMABAD, May 27 (Alliance News): The Department of Arts and Media at Foundation University Islamabad, in collaboration with the Embassy of Romania, organized the Foundation Film Festival 2025, featuring the acclaimed Romanian documentary “The King’s War” — a film exploring King Michael I’s decisive role during World War II.
Romanian Ambassador Dr. Dan Stoenescu was warmly received at the festival’s opening by Professor Dr. Qaiser Ali Malik and Dr. Hina Shahid, Head of the Arts and Media Department.
The event was also graced by artist Jamal Shah and Zaildar Ahsan Shah, President of the Romania-Pakistan Friendship Association.
Dr. Hina Shahid highlighted the department’s role in promoting peace through arts and media, while emphasizing its cultural and academic achievements.
The festival drew significant interest, receiving 92 film submissions across a range of categories.
Ambassador Stoenescu spoke about Romania’s historical journey through WWII and the power of film, art, and theater in preserving and narrating national history.
He also inaugurated a Romanian cultural exhibition at the event, showcasing the country’s rich artistic heritage.
After visiting the Indigenous Art Gallery, the ambassador praised Pakistan’s vibrant artistic community and its growing contribution to cultural diplomacy. “Artistic expression is a vital tool for building bridges between our peoples,” he stated.
The event concluded with an award ceremony recognizing notable contributions to the festival.
This initiative marks a continued strengthening of Pakistan-Romania relations, following the recent opening of Romania’s Honorary Consulate in Peshawar and growing parliamentary engagement between the two nations.
