Ishaq Dar to Visit Hong Kong for Signing of International Mediation Convention

ISLAMABAD, May 28 (Alliance News): Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar will visit Hong Kong, Special Administrative Region of China, from May 29 to 30 to attend the signing ceremony of the Convention establishing the International Organization for Mediation (IOMed), the Foreign Office announced Wednesday.

Senator Dar will sign the IOMed Convention on May 30 and deliver an address during the official ceremony. In addition, he is scheduled to hold several bilateral meetings on the sidelines of the event.

Pakistan has joined the IOMed as one of its founding members, underscoring its firm support for mediation and peaceful settlement of international disputes.

“Pakistan believes that peace, security, and global prosperity can be promoted and preserved through strict adherence to the UN Charter, full implementation of UN Security Council resolutions, and respect for international law,” the Foreign Office said. “Mediation, diplomacy, dialogue, and international cooperation are key pillars of this vision.”

The International Organization for Mediation aims to serve as a new global mechanism for dispute resolution through peaceful means, fostering international cooperation and conflict prevention.
