ISLAMABAD, Jun 20 (Alliance News): The Islamabad district administration, in coordination with law enforcement agencies, religious scholars, and trader representatives, has finalized security arrangements for Muharram and issued a comprehensive code of conduct for processions and religious gatherings across the capital.
The District Peace Committee met under the chairmanship of Deputy Commissioner Irfan Nawaz Memon. Senior police officials including DIG Operations Muhammad Jawad Tariq, assistant commissioners, the director of the Metropolitan Corporation, scholars from various sects, and trade leaders participated in the meeting.
Officials reviewed security and administrative plans and confirmed that all key preparations had been completed.
The code of conduct, which was developed in consultation with religious scholars, outlines strict guidelines for the management of processions, majalis, and mosque activities during the holy month.
DIG Tariq assured that Safe City cameras would be used for 24/7 monitoring of processions, and security personnel would be deployed accordingly. He emphasized that the police are fully prepared to maintain peace during Muharram.
DC Memon appreciated the religious scholars and officials for their cooperation in the planning process. He reiterated the administration’s commitment to continuous communication with scholars and implementation of their recommendations.
He also urged the public to extend full cooperation to law enforcement agencies and assured that all arrangements were being made to ensure peace and harmony during Muharram.
The meeting concluded with a prayer for the country’s peace and stability.
