Field Marshal Asim Munir Meets Trump, Reaffirms Pakistan’s Role in Regional Stability

WASHINGTON, Jun 20 (Alliance News): Chief of Army Staff Field Marshal Asim Munir has reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to reducing regional tensions and promoting a cooperative security framework, during his official visit to the United States.

According to Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the Army Chief engaged with key American think tanks, strategic affairs experts, and international media representatives in Washington.

The sessions offered insight into Pakistan’s strategic vision and its principled stance on key regional and global issues.

Field Marshal Munir also met with U.S. President Donald Trump, with both leaders underscoring the need for a peaceful resolution to the escalating Iran-Israel conflict.

President Trump thanked the Army Chief for what he called “playing a key role in stopping the war,” appreciating Pakistan’s stabilizing efforts in the region.

The Army Chief stressed that some regional actors are using terrorism as a tool of hybrid warfare and reiterated that Pakistan, having made tremendous human and economic sacrifices, remains at the forefront of the global fight against terrorism.

Highlighting Pakistan’s strategic importance and potential, Field Marshal Munir invited international stakeholders to explore collaborative opportunities in information technology, agriculture, and mineral resources.

He also reviewed the long-standing Pakistan-U.S. partnership and emphasized deepening cooperation in areas of mutual interest.

“Pakistan is committed to building a regional security structure based on cooperation and mutual respect,” the Army Chief stated.

The visit is seen as a vital step in reinforcing strategic dialogue between Islamabad and Washington, particularly as global powers navigate the ongoing Middle East crisis and shifting geopolitical dynamics in South Asia.
