Pakistan’s Foreign Secretary Honours Women Diplomats on International Day for Women in Diplomacy

ISLAMABAD, Jun 24 (Alliance News): Pakistan’s Foreign Secretary, Ambassador Amna Baloch, on Tuesday extended heartfelt greetings to women diplomats across the globe, paying tribute to their contributions in shaping international affairs as the world marked the International Day for Women in Diplomacy.

In a statement issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Foreign Secretary applauded the dedication, excellence, and leadership of female diplomats, noting that women today occupy key positions in diplomacy—leading negotiations, steering international dialogue, and fostering peace and development worldwide.

“Across continents, women lead high-level diplomacy, foster understanding, and drive peace, development, and cooperation,” said Ambassador Baloch.

She emphasized that women are no longer just participants in the foreign policy arena but are increasingly assuming leadership roles in international engagement and policy formulation.

Ambassador Baloch underscored the significance of Pakistani women diplomats in this evolving global landscape.

She noted with pride that Pakistan’s Foreign Service now includes a growing number of highly skilled, professional women who uphold the country’s values with confidence and clarity. “They reflect the nation’s progress toward gender inclusion and balance in the diplomatic sphere,” she stated.

The Foreign Secretary reaffirmed her commitment to building institutional frameworks that support the recruitment, retention, and advancement of women in diplomacy.

She acknowledged the structural challenges many women face and pledged to continue championing gender equity within Pakistan’s Foreign Service.

“In a world facing complex and multifaceted challenges—ranging from conflict and climate change to economic inequality—women’s contributions to diplomacy are not only valuable, they are indispensable,” she said.

Ambassador Baloch called on the global community to collectively recognize and empower women diplomats.

“On this important day, let us celebrate the essential role that women play in creating a more peaceful, just, and inclusive global order,” she concluded.
