ISLAMABAD, Jul 01 (Alliance News): Islamabad Police have successfully solved several high-profile blind murder cases, including the killing of Sardar Fahim, through a combination of advanced technology and traditional investigative techniques, State Minister for Interior Talal Chaudhry announced on Tuesday.
Speaking at a press conference alongside senior police officials, Talal Chaudhry praised the professionalism and swift action of Islamabad Police, stating, “The resolution of these complex cases has brought relief to the city and deserves national recognition.”
Among the cases solved were the murders of university student Iman, 17-year-old influencer Sana Yusuf, the rape and murder of a foreign woman, the kidnapping of 3-year-old Muhammad Azlan, and multiple robbery-related killings.
The minister assured that the real culprits had been arrested and confirmed publicly, not just suspects.
Inspector General of Police Islamabad, Syed Ali Nasir Rizvi, outlined the breakthrough in the Fahim case, which had initially baffled investigators due to a lack of leads, digital traces, or eyewitnesses.
“It was a brutal and senseless murder, but thanks to relentless investigation and our team’s sense of duty, we cracked the case in six days,” said the IG.
The murder of 27-year-old Fahim occurred on the night of June 25. Despite extensive forensic efforts, CCTV analysis, and geofencing across 29 sites, investigators initially failed to gain solid leads.
It was only after reverting to conventional detective work—interviewing neighbors, examining laborers and domestic staff, and checking criminal records—that momentum grew.
DIG Jawad Qamar spearheaded an 11-team operation involving elite investigators, homicide specialists, and intelligence personnel.
SSP Investigation Usman and SSP Operations Shoaib led their respective divisions, while DSP Salman Shah’s CIA team tracked suspects across Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Attock, Peshawar, Gujranwala, Sargodha, and Chiniot.
Over 4,100 phone records were scrutinized, 271 CCTV clips reviewed, and 57 suspects interrogated. Nine raids were carried out. In Chiniot, police arrested two main suspects and recovered the murder weapon and stolen goods. One of the accused was a habitual criminal with 25 previous FIRs and multiple imprisonments.
According to police, the motive was robbery. The suspects had selected Fahim’s house as a low-risk target.
During the robbery, Fahim resisted and was brutally attacked with a metal rod, bound, and tortured before the culprits fled.
“This was not solved by chance. It was relentless work,” said the IG. “And the test is not over — we will ensure justice is served.”
The IG also noted significant overall progress in reducing crime. “Crime in Islamabad has dropped by 37% overall, and by 59% in some categories, thanks to modern policing tools and teamwork,” he said. He acknowledged criticism of the force but urged that “successes like these must also be recognized.”
Minister Talal Chaudhry confirmed that reforms are underway within the police, with internal accountability being enforced.
“We’re disciplining officers where necessary and protecting those who serve with integrity. Islamabad Police is becoming a model for the nation.”
As the press conference concluded, officials reaffirmed their commitment to justice, transparency, and public trust.
