ISLAMABAD, July 1 (Alliance News): Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif on Tuesday visited the Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Iran in Islamabad to offer heartfelt condolences on behalf of the Government and people of Pakistan over the recent loss of Iranian lives during Israeli aggression.
The prime minister expressed deep sorrow and solidarity with Iran during what he described as a moment of profound grief for the entire Muslim world.
He paid glowing tribute to the resilience and courage of the Iranian people in the face of foreign aggression, offering prayers for the martyrs and for the swift recovery of those injured in the attack.
“Iran’s strength lies in its people,” the premier remarked, while writing in the condolence book placed at the Iranian Embassy. “We stand by our brothers and sisters in Iran and share in their pain. Pakistan will continue to support Iran in its pursuit of justice and peace.”
The visit was part of Pakistan’s official gesture of solidarity with Iran after the recent escalation in regional tensions triggered by Israeli military strikes, which resulted in significant Iranian casualties.
The attacks, condemned by several nations including Pakistan, have raised concerns over regional peace and the violation of international law.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif was accompanied by Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Mohammad Ishaq Dar, Special Assistant to the Prime Minister on Foreign Affairs Tariq Fatemi, and Foreign Secretary Muhammad Syrus Sajjad Qazi.
Upon arrival at the Iranian Embassy, the delegation was warmly received by Ambassador Reza Amiri Moghaddam and senior Iranian diplomats. The ambassador expressed gratitude to the Government of Pakistan for standing shoulder-to-shoulder with Iran during this tragic time and appreciated the timely expression of solidarity by Pakistani leadership.
During his interaction with Iranian officials, the prime minister reaffirmed Pakistan’s consistent foreign policy of supporting the sovereignty and territorial integrity of all nations, particularly neighbouring and brotherly Muslim countries.
He also conveyed his personal regards and best wishes for Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatullah Ali Khamenei and newly elected President Dr. Massoud Pezeshkian.
The visit comes just days after Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif praised Iran’s diplomatic maturity and lauded the restraint shown by the Iranian leadership amidst ongoing provocations.
Earlier, Pakistan had formally condemned the Israeli strikes on Iran as an unjustified act of aggression that violated international norms.
Pakistan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs had also issued a strong statement at the United Nations, backing Iran’s right to self-defence under Article 51 of the UN Charter.
The prime minister’s visit to the Iranian Embassy is seen as an important diplomatic move, reflecting Pakistan’s commitment to fostering unity among Muslim nations and opposing illegal military actions that risk further destabilization in the Middle East.
Observers note that in the wake of rising regional tensions, Pakistan is actively promoting peace and urging restraint on all sides. The message from Islamabad has consistently emphasized dialogue, mutual respect, and adherence to international law.
In the condolence message, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif said: “The entire Pakistani nation stands in solidarity with the great people of Iran.
We offer our prayers for the souls of the martyrs and extend our unwavering support to the families who have suffered.”
The Iranian ambassador acknowledged the brotherly sentiments extended by Pakistan and said that the people of Iran deeply value Pakistan’s support at this critical juncture. “Pakistan’s voice has been among the clearest and most powerful in condemning this unprovoked aggression,” he said.
Pakistan and Iran share deep-rooted historical, cultural, and religious ties. The recent events have only strengthened bilateral solidarity, especially in times of hardship.
