ISLAMABAD, May 30 (Alliance News): The Embassy of Sweden in Pakistan hosted an elegant reception at the Swedish Residence in Islamabad on May 29 to celebrate Sweden’s National Day and mark 75 years of diplomatic and bilateral relations between Sweden and Pakistan.

The event brought together an esteemed gathering of senior government officials, business leaders, cultural figures, diplomats, members of the media, and friends of both countries to commemorate this historic milestone.

The evening was a vibrant celebration of a long-standing partnership characterized by mutual respect, cooperation, and shared ambitions for peace, prosperity, and sustainable development.

One of the central highlights was the launch of a commemorative publication titled “75 Years of Partnership – Sweden and Pakistan,” alongside a mini-exhibition that offered an insightful journey through the history of bilateral relations.

The exhibition traced key diplomatic milestones, official visits, and collaborative achievements that have defined the relationship over the decades.

More than 40 Swedish companies operating in Pakistan were prominently featured for their vital contributions to Pakistan’s economic landscape.

These enterprises span diverse sectors, including information technology, telecommunications, packaging, industrial tools, clean and green technologies, transport, energy, and textiles.

Their innovation, expertise, and investments have significantly advanced Pakistan’s industrial and technological capabilities, bolstering economic growth and creating employment opportunities.

Adding a cultural dimension to the event, local artists performed a lively selection of iconic Swedish songs, paying homage to Sweden’s rich musical heritage.

The audience enjoyed renditions of classic and contemporary hits by renowned Swedish artists such as ABBA and Avicii, underscoring Sweden’s status as one of the world’s leading music exporters.

The chief guest of the evening, Federal Minister for Information Technology and Telecommunication Ms. Shaza Fatima Khawaja, delivered a compelling speech that captured the essence of the bilateral relationship from Pakistan’s perspective.

She underscored the value Pakistan places on its enduring ties with Sweden, highlighting the critical role of collaboration in technology, innovation, and sustainable development as cornerstones for future growth.
