PM Shehbaz Concludes Tajikistan Visit After Key Talks and Climate Conference

DUSHANBE, May 30 ( Alliance News): Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif on Friday concluded his two-day official visit to Tajikistan and departed for Pakistan from Dushanbe International Airport.

Tajik Deputy Prime Minister Hokim Kholiqzoda bid farewell to the Prime Minister at the airport. Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting Attaullah Tarar and Special Assistant to the Prime Minister Syed Tariq Fatemi accompanied him during the visit.

During his stay, Prime Minister Shehbaz held a high-level bilateral meeting with President Emomali Rahmon of Tajikistan. The two leaders discussed ways to strengthen cooperation in diverse sectors including trade, connectivity, energy, and regional peace.

Prime Minister Shehbaz thanked President Rahmon for Tajikistan’s continued support to Pakistan, especially during recent regional tensions with India. He emphasized the importance of regional unity and collaboration to ensure sustainable development and peace.

The Prime Minister also participated in the High-Level International Conference on Glacier Preservation in Dushanbe, where he delivered a keynote speech.

He shed light on the severe consequences of climate change in Pakistan, citing devastating floods and fast-melting glaciers as urgent challenges.

He reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to global climate goals and highlighted the need for international cooperation in preserving natural water resources and ecosystems.
