BEIJING, May 20 (Alliance News): Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar on Tuesday praised China’s unwavering support for Pakistan’s sovereignty and territorial integrity during a high-level meeting with Liu Jianchao, Minister of the International Department of the Communist Party of China (IDCPC).
According to a statement from the Deputy Prime Minister’s Office, the meeting took place amid evolving regional dynamics following the recent ceasefire between Pakistan and India.
Both sides emphasized the need to uphold the principles of the UN Charter and international law to maintain peace and stability in South Asia.
DPM Dar reaffirmed Pakistan’s right and capability to defend its territorial integrity and the security of its people. He also raised serious concerns over India’s unilateral suspension of the Indus Waters Treaty, calling it an “illegal and provocative” act that warranted international scrutiny.
He reiterated Pakistan’s long-standing position that a just resolution of the Jammu and Kashmir dispute, in accordance with United Nations Security Council resolutions, remains essential for lasting peace in the region.
The Foreign Minister commended the role of the IDCPC in promoting inter-party ties between the Communist Party of China (CPC) and Pakistan’s political forces, which he said enhances bilateral cooperation and mutual understanding.
As Pakistan and China prepare to celebrate the 74th anniversary of diplomatic relations on May 21, both leaders reaffirmed their commitment to preserving and strengthening their “ironclad” friendship for future generations.
They also agreed to further deepen institutional linkages between political parties of both countries.
Liu Jianchao reassured that China, as an All-Weather Strategic Cooperative Partner, would continue to prioritize its relationship with Pakistan and firmly support its sovereignty and core national interests.
