ISLAMABAD, May 20 (Alliance News): Federal Minister for Planning, Development and Special Initiatives Professor Ahsan Iqbal met with Balochistan Chief Minister Mir Sarfraz Bugti on Tuesday to review ongoing development initiatives under the Public Sector Development Programme (PSDP) and discuss strategies for accelerating progress in the province.
According to a news release, the meeting emphasized the need for equitable resource distribution, improved strategic planning, and stronger federal-provincial coordination to uplift Balochistan’s socio-economic landscape.
Ahsan Iqbal reaffirmed the federal government’s full commitment to the province’s advancement, stating, “The projects underway in Balochistan are aimed at public welfare and sustainable progress.”
He further noted that increased coordination between the center and the province would open new pathways for development.
The minister also announced plans to expand the PSDP in the upcoming fiscal year to provide more resources to the provinces. “We are working towards increasing the size of the next PSDP to empower provinces with more resources,” he said.
Chief Minister Sarfraz Bugti expressed satisfaction with the current pace of development and reiterated Balochistan’s alignment with the national development agenda.
“Balochistan’s partnership in the national development agenda is commendable, and we are fully committed to advancing this collaboration,” he added while reviewing the PSDP 2025–26.
