ISLAMABAD, May 20 (Alliance News): The Supreme Court of Pakistan has referred back to the Lahore High Court (LHC) the case concerning the consolidation of multiple FIRs filed against Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Fawad Chaudhry in connection with the May 9 incidents.
A three-member bench, headed by Justice Hashim Khan Kakar, heard the petition on Tuesday and set aside the previous decision of the LHC.
The Supreme Court observed that the High Court had failed to provide reasons while dismissing Fawad Chaudhry’s writ petition, which it was legally required to do.
Justice Hashim Khan Kakar remarked during the hearing that the absence of reasoning in the LHC’s order warranted reconsideration of the case.
Consequently, the apex court remanded the matter to the Lahore High Court, directing it to rehear the case and issue a detailed and reasoned judgment after proper deliberation.
The FIRs in question stem from the events of May 9, 2023, during which protests erupted nationwide following the arrest of PTI Chairman Imran Khan.
