PAF Jets Escort Iranian President Pezeshkian’s Aircraft in Aerial Welcome During Pakistan Visit

ISLAMABAD, Jun 24 (Alliance News): Pakistan Air Force (PAF) fighter jets on Sunday accorded a special aerial welcome to Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian upon his arrival in Pakistan for an official visit, highlighting the close relations and diplomatic engagement between the two countries.

President Pezeshkian arrived in Islamabad on a day-long visit following Pakistan-mediated diplomatic efforts between Tehran and Washington, including recent talks held in Switzerland aimed at reducing tensions in the region.

The visit marks President Pezeshkian’s first foreign trip since the United States and Israel launched strikes on Iran on February 28, and comes after Pakistan and Qatar announced that the first round of high-level US-Iran talks in Burgenstock, Switzerland, resulted in a 60-day roadmap toward a possible final agreement.

As the Iranian President’s aircraft entered Pakistani airspace, a special Pakistan Air Force escort formation welcomed the visiting leader.

A six-aircraft formation consisting of JF-17 Thunder and F-16 fighter jets accompanied the presidential aircraft, presenting a ceremonial aerial salute in honour of President Pezeshkian.

The formation leader conveyed the greetings and best wishes of Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif and the people of Pakistan to the Iranian President.

The traditional aerial escort by the Pakistan Air Force reflected Pakistan’s diplomatic protocol, hospitality, and respect for visiting heads of state.

The participation of the JF-17 Thunder and F-16 fighter aircraft also highlighted the operational capabilities, professionalism, and readiness of the Pakistan Air Force.

President Pezeshkian’s visit is expected to focus on strengthening Pakistan-Iran bilateral relations, regional peace efforts, economic cooperation, and coordination on shared challenges.

The visit comes at a time when Pakistan continues to play an active diplomatic role in supporting dialogue and reducing tensions in the region.
