ISLAMABAD, May 23 (Alliance News): The Embassy of Poland in Islamabad hosted a solemn yet vibrant ceremony on Thursday evening to commemorate Poland’s Constitution Day, drawing diplomats, lawmakers, civil servants, and media representatives to reflect on democratic values and international solidarity.
Opening the event, Polish Ambassador H.E. Maciej Pisarski strongly condemned the recent terrorist attack on a school bus in Khuzdar, Balochistan. Calling it an “unjustifiable act against innocent lives,” he urged for collective global action against such violence.
“To shutter the life, future, dreams of the young ones is just beyond comprehension and condemnation,” he said.
In his remarks, the ambassador welcomed recent signs of de-escalation between Pakistan and India, appreciating both countries for adopting constructive dialogue. He contrasted their approach with Russia’s aggression against Ukraine, reiterating Poland’s unwavering support for Kyiv.
Highlighting the historical importance of Poland’s Constitution of May 3, 1791—Europe’s first and the world’s second—the ambassador described it as “a living symbol of democratic values.” The Constitution Day celebrations began with a classical music concert featuring compositions by Frédéric Chopin and Stanislaw Moniuszko.
Ambassador Pisarski also emphasized the deep-rooted relations between Poland and Pakistan, recalling the contribution of Air Commodore Wladyslaw Turowicz to the Pakistan Air Force. “The slogan ‘Pak-Poland Dosti Zindabad’ reflects a growing partnership grounded in mutual respect and cooperation,” he said, highlighting cultural and trade collaborations.
A cultural highlight of the evening was a performance by the JAH Trio—a renowned Polish jazz ensemble—as part of the “Jazz po polsku” (Jazz in Polish) project. Guests also enjoyed traditional Polish cuisine in the embassy’s garden, engaging in rich cultural and diplomatic exchanges.
The event concluded with a strong message of unity, democracy, and resilience, reaffirming the value of international partnerships in facing modern global challenges.
