ISLAMABAD, Jun 25 (Alliance News): Senator Irfan Siddiqui, head of the Senate Foreign Affairs Committee and parliamentary leader of PML-N, has warned Pakistan to remain alert to the growing nexus between Israel and India, urging Iran to review its regional policy in light of recent developments.
Speaking in a television interview, the senior parliamentarian welcomed the ceasefire between Israel and Iran, crediting Pakistan’s leadership and institutions for managing the regional crisis with “great wisdom and composure.”
He praised the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, National Security Committee, and other institutions for protecting Pakistan’s national interests during an extremely sensitive time.
Senator Siddiqui remarked that after India’s military confrontation with Pakistan, Israel’s strike on Iran added new layers of complexity to the regional security landscape. “The fire ignited by India found new fuel with Israel’s involvement, bringing the war dangerously close to our borders,” he said.
He emphasized that Pakistan and Iran share close brotherly ties, and the region was teetering on the edge of instability.
Referring to Iran’s retaliatory strike on American bases in Qatar, Siddiqui noted it added to the diplomatic challenge for Pakistan. “We could not support the attack on Qatar, nor could we afford to alienate Iran.
It was a tightrope walk,” he explained, adding that Pakistan’s balanced, principle-based approach helped maintain its credibility and neutrality.
He commended the improvement in Pakistan-US relations and stated that President Donald Trump deserved international recognition for his role in ending the Pakistan-India war.
Siddiqui added that Pakistan maintained clear and consistent communication with Iran during the crisis and upheld its diplomatic stance without compromising its national interest.
Addressing the security challenges, Senator Siddiqui said Pakistan must remain vigilant regarding the growing cooperation between India and Israel. “It is a new alliance that could have far-reaching consequences for regional stability,” he warned.
He described Pakistan’s diplomatic handling of both conflicts—between India and Pakistan, and between Iran and Israel—as a display of national unity and strategic maturity. “There is no division within the country on this policy.
Our approach has been principled, patient, and in line with our national interests,” he asserted.
On the broader implications of the regional conflicts, he noted that the five-day war between India and Pakistan and the twelve-day conflict between Iran and Israel would have long-lasting effects. “These are not minor events. Their repercussions will be deeper than many realize,” he said.
Siddiqui concluded by stressing the need for robust national defense. “The key lesson from recent events is clear—nations must maintain strong defense capabilities if they wish to live with honor and dignity.”
