ISLAMABAD, Jun 02 (Alliance News): Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Monday reaffirmed his government’s commitment to transforming Pakistan into a stable global economy through sustainable institutional reforms.
While chairing a review meeting on Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) affairs, the prime minister directed the hiring of internationally recognized companies for third-party validation of FBR’s ongoing initiatives and reforms.
He stated that reforms were progressing rapidly across all sectors and that the government was working diligently to eliminate corruption and ensure transparency across institutions.
He pointed out that the recent positive economic indicators were a clear reflection of the government’s sound policy direction.
The prime minister also expressed satisfaction over the performance of the faceless customs assessment system, describing it as a key reform delivering promising results by enhancing transparency.
“God willing, we will succeed in our struggle to make Pakistan economically stable,” the prime minister said.
During the meeting, a detailed briefing was given on the faceless customs assessment system and the ongoing reforms in Pakistan Revenue Automation Limited (PRAL). It was highlighted that the system has resulted in increased revenue and significantly reduced customs clearance times.
Progress on the PRAL reforms was also shared, with officials noting that a simplified digital tax return system for the general public would be introduced soon.
The system is also being developed in Urdu and other local languages to ensure broader accessibility and ease of use.
The meeting was attended by Minister for Law and Justice Azam Nazeer Tarar, Minister for Information and Broadcasting Attaullah Tarar, Chairman FBR, and senior officials from relevant institutions.
