ISLAMABAD, June 22 (Alliance News): Pakistan on Sunday strongly condemned the United States’ military strikes on Iranian nuclear facilities, which followed a series of attacks by Israel, terming them a violation of international law and a threat to regional stability.
“We are gravely concerned at the possible further escalation of tensions in the region,” said the Foreign Office spokesperson in an official statement.
“These attacks violate all norms of international law, and Iran has the legitimate right to defend itself under the UN Charter.”
The statement came in response to what Pakistan called “unprecedented escalation” in violence due to ongoing aggression against Iran.
The Foreign Office stressed that any further escalation would have “severely damaging implications for the region and beyond.”
The spokesperson also urged restraint and highlighted the importance of protecting civilians amid the hostilities. “Pakistan emphasises the imperative need to respect civilian lives and properties and immediately bring the conflict to an end,” the spokesperson added.
Reaffirming its position on international norms, Pakistan called upon all parties involved to strictly adhere to international law, particularly International Humanitarian Law.
