ISLAMABAD, Jul 07 (Alliance News): Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar on Monday received a high-level delegation from the Etisalat Group, UAE, led by Group CEO Hatem Dowidar, to discuss expanding the company’s investments in Pakistan’s ICT and telecom sectors.
The meeting, held in Islamabad, was attended by Minister for IT Shaza Fatima Khawaja, Special Assistant to the Prime Minister Tariq Bajwa, National Coordinator of the Special Investment Facilitation Council (SIFC), as well as secretaries of IT, Commerce, Privatization, and senior officials from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
During the interaction, Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar emphasized Pakistan’s rapidly growing digital economy and reiterated the government’s commitment to ensuring a business-friendly environment for international investors.
He welcomed Etisalat’s continued interest in the Pakistani market and highlighted the government’s efforts to streamline investment procedures, enhance regulatory transparency, and strengthen the country’s digital infrastructure.
Group CEO Hatem Dowidar expressed gratitude for the Government of Pakistan’s consistent support and reaffirmed Etisalat Group’s long-term commitment to contributing to the country’s digital transformation.
He stated that the group is keen to further its role in Pakistan’s digital growth and connectivity expansion through new investments and strategic partnerships.
Dowidar acknowledged Pakistan’s market potential and emphasized the role of collaboration in building a robust telecommunications ecosystem.
He assured that Etisalat is committed to playing an active part in achieving Pakistan’s digital economy objectives, especially in the areas of connectivity, innovation, and sustainable development.
