ISLAMABAD, Aug 5 (Alliance News): The British High Commissioner to Pakistan, Jane Marriott, has called on Pakistan’s “exceptional future leaders” to apply for the prestigious UK Chevening scholarships, as applications officially opened today for the 2025-2026 academic year.
Chevening, the UK Government’s flagship global scholarship programme, offers fully funded one-year master’s degrees at any university in the United Kingdom.
The programme targets individuals with demonstrated leadership potential who aspire to bring positive change within their communities and across the country.
Addressing the launch, High Commissioner Jane Marriott CMG OBE emphasized the transformative impact of the programme. “Chevening is a launchpad for Pakistan’s exceptional future leaders.
It offers more than just a world-class education. It provides the space to grow, the networks to connect globally, and the confidence to lead with purpose. If you have the leadership potential and the ambition to make a difference, I strongly encourage you to apply,” she said.
The scholarship covers all major expenses including tuition fees, round-trip airfare, visa costs, and a monthly stipend to support accommodation and living expenses throughout the candidate’s stay in the UK.
Applications will be accepted from August 5 to October 7, 2025. The programme is open to mid-career professionals from across Pakistan who have completed an undergraduate degree and possess at least two years of work experience following graduation.
Successful candidates will join a global community of over 60,000 Chevening alumni from more than 160 countries.
In Pakistan alone, more than 2,000 individuals have benefited from the scholarship, many of whom now serve in leadership positions across government, academia, business, civil society, and the media.
According to the British High Commission, this year’s applicants must showcase strong leadership qualities, the ability to influence others, and a proven capacity for building relationships and networks.
These attributes should be demonstrated through real-life examples in the online application.
Beyond academics, Chevening scholars have the opportunity to immerse themselves in UK life, expand their professional horizons, and establish long-term partnerships with peers and institutions in Britain.
The British High Commission has encouraged applicants from all parts of Pakistan and all fields of study to apply, reiterating the UK’s commitment to empowering the next generation of Pakistani leaders.
