China Pledges to Share Growth Gains, Deepen Pakistan Partnership in 2026

KARACHI, Feb 1 (Alliance News): Chinese Consul General in Karachi Yang Yundong on Saturday said China remains committed to sharing the fruits of its development with all countries, including Pakistan, and called for deepening bilateral cooperation in 2026, a year marking the 75th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the two nations.

Addressing a Chinese New Year media reception at the Chinese Consulate in Karachi, Yang urged both sides to move forward with renewed momentum and sustained efforts, saying China and Pakistan should work together “just like a galloping horse” to further strengthen their all-weather partnership.

Highlighting the significance of the milestone year, he said the 75th anniversary provides an important opportunity to add greater contemporary relevance, a stronger social foundation and broader development prospects to the China-Pakistan All-Weather Strategic Cooperative Partnership.

Yang also referred to Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar’s visit to China from January 3 to January 5 at the invitation of Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi.

He noted that Dar was the first foreign leader to visit China in 2026 and had co-chaired the 7th China-Pakistan Foreign Ministers’ Strategic Dialogue.

During the dialogue, both sides agreed to enhance strategic communication, deepen mutual trust, safeguard shared interests, promote economic and social development, and jointly advance peace, development and prosperity in the region and beyond.

The two countries also welcomed third-party participation in China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) cooperation and reaffirmed their commitment to building an upgraded CPEC 2.0.

They agreed to focus on key sectors including industry, agriculture and mining, promote the development and operation of Gwadar Port, ensure smooth connectivity through the Karakoram Highway, and enhance Pakistan’s capacity for sustainable development.

“This visit vividly demonstrates that China regards its relationship with Pakistan as unique and a top priority,” Yang said while commenting on the Dar-Wang Yi meeting.

He added that despite changing global circumstances, the China-Pakistan friendship has remained steadfast and resilient, having been “refined into pure gold through trials and tribulations.”

Yang emphasized that both countries should seize the 75th anniversary as a strategic moment to further strengthen people-to-people ties and translate their enduring friendship into tangible benefits for the peoples of China and Pakistan.
