ISLAMABAD, Jul 12 (Alliance News): A young patient allegedly died after being subjected to torture at a private mental health centre in Islamabad, prompting police to receive a complaint from the victim’s family seeking the registration of a criminal case.

According to the complaint submitted at Shahzad Town Police Station, the deceased’s father alleged that his son was admitted to the mental health facility in June but was not allowed to meet any family members for nearly a month.

The complainant stated that on July 9, the centre informed him that his son had contracted dengue fever. However, upon reaching the facility, he found that his son had already died.

The father further alleged that visible torture marks were present on the body of the deceased.

According to the complaint, several staff members reportedly left the premises after the incident, while the owner of the mental health centre, identified as Dr. Hamza, was also not present at the facility.

The victim’s father has requested police to register a First Information Report (FIR) and conduct a thorough investigation into the circumstances surrounding his son’s death.

Police have received the application and are examining the allegations. No official statement has yet been issued regarding the cause of death, and the claims made by the family have not been independently verified.

Authorities are expected to investigate the incident and determine whether any criminal negligence or unlawful acts were involved.
