ISLAMABAD, July 16 (APP): The Directorate General of Immigration and Passports (DGIP) has urged citizens in Pakistan and abroad to use its official helpline and the Pakistan Citizen Portal for passport-related information, assistance, feedback and complaint registration.
The DGIP, working under the Ministry of Interior, reaffirmed its commitment to providing accessible, reliable and citizen-centric passport services while ensuring prompt resolution of applicants’ concerns.
In a statement, the department encouraged citizens seeking guidance on passport services to contact the Passport Helpline (UAN) at 051-111-344-777. It also advised applicants to submit complaints and feedback through the Pakistan Citizen Portal, enabling authorities to address service-related issues efficiently.
The DGIP said public feedback plays an important role in improving service delivery and strengthening transparency, efficiency and accountability in passport operations.
The department reiterated its commitment to enhancing customer experience by ensuring citizens have easy access to official support channels and effective grievance redressal mechanisms.
Meanwhile, Pakistan is gradually replacing traditional Machine-Readable Passports (MRPs) with a fully integrated e-passport system as part of the government’s efforts to modernise travel documentation and digital public services.
Director General of Passports Muhammad Abdul Khaliq recently said the new system would enable citizens to apply for passports online, pay fees digitally and receive their passports at their doorstep.
He said Pakistan issued its first e-passport in 2022, while the upgraded system introduced in 2025 now complies with international standards and is compatible with global e-gates.
According to the DG, the new e-passports feature advanced laser engraving technology and digital security certificates, making them significantly more secure and resistant to forgery.
The initiative is part of the government’s broader digital transformation agenda aimed at improving public service delivery and facilitating Pakistani citizens at home and overseas.
