QUETTA (Alliance News, July 25): The federal government on Saturday reaffirmed its commitment to extending every possible support to Balochistan to ensure lasting peace and strengthen counterterrorism efforts across the province.
The assurance came during a high-level meeting in Quetta co-chaired by Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi and Balochistan Chief Minister Mir Sarfraz Bugti to review the province’s law and order situation and ongoing security operations.
The meeting underscored the federal and provincial governments’ shared resolve to combat terrorism through enhanced coordination, modern technology, improved intelligence capabilities, and stronger law enforcement institutions.
Chief Minister Bugti briefed participants on the prevailing security situation, ongoing counterterrorism operations, and the provincial government’s strategy to maintain peace and stability.
The meeting decided to further strengthen the professional capacity of the Balochistan Counter Terrorism Force (CTF) and the provincial police while accelerating previously approved reforms aimed at improving policing and security infrastructure.
The Ministry of Interior assured the provincial government of full cooperation in providing the resources required to enhance security capabilities.
Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi stressed that the immediate and effective implementation of Balochistan’s peace restoration plan was essential for achieving sustainable peace. He also emphasized utilizing the experience of former Balochistan police chiefs to strengthen operational planning and counterterrorism strategies.
Naqvi said the federal and provincial governments were working with complete unity and coordination, adding that collective efforts would reinforce the state’s ability to respond to evolving security threats.
The meeting took place amid ongoing security operations against terrorist groups following an increase in militant attacks in the province.
According to the Centre for Research and Security Studies (CRSS), Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan accounted for nearly 96 percent of all violence-related fatalities recorded during the second quarter of 2026.
Chief Minister Bugti reaffirmed that the provincial government would continue to confront terrorist elements without yielding to any pressure. He declared that the writ of the state would be enforced at all costs and that there would be no place for terrorists in Balochistan.
He also highlighted youth empowerment as a key pillar of long-term peace, emphasizing education, skills development, employment opportunities, and merit-based governance to restore confidence among young people.
Bugti said peace and development go hand in hand and pledged to accelerate both security initiatives and development projects with continued support from the federal government.
