RAWALPINDI, Aug 07 (Alliance News): Security forces killed at least 10 India-backed Fitna al-Khawarij terrorists in two separate intelligence-based operations in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said on Friday.
According to the military’s media wing, security forces foiled an attempted terrorist attack on security checkposts in the Azam Warsak area of South Waziristan district on Thursday.
During the ensuing exchange of fire, troops responded with effective and precise action, killing eight terrorists.
In a separate operation conducted the same day in Dir district, security forces neutralized two more terrorists.
The ISPR said weapons and ammunition were recovered from the slain India-sponsored terrorists, who had been actively involved in multiple terrorist activities in the area.
Sanitization operations were launched following the encounters to eliminate any remaining terrorists and ensure the area was cleared of militant presence.
The military reaffirmed its commitment to continuing counterterrorism operations under the vision of Azm-e-Istehkam to eradicate foreign-sponsored terrorism from the country.
Pakistan has witnessed a surge in terrorist violence, particularly in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan, since 2021. Pakistani authorities have consistently maintained that India supports militant groups operating from Afghan territory to carry out attacks inside Pakistan, while also urging the Afghan authorities to prevent the use of their soil for cross-border terrorism.
According to a recent report by the Centre for Research and Security Studies (CRSS), Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan remained the country’s most affected regions by militant violence during the second quarter of 2026, accounting for nearly 96 percent of all violence-related fatalities.
