BEIJING, May 21 (Alliance News): In a strong show of solidarity following Pakistan’s recent military confrontation with India, China has reiterated its unwavering support for Pakistan’s sovereignty, territorial integrity, and right to self-defence.
Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi made the remarks during a high-level meeting with Pakistan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar in Beijing.
The meeting took place shortly after a US-brokered ceasefire ended over 80 hours of intense hostilities between the two nuclear-armed neighbours on May 10.
The Pakistani Foreign Office noted that the meeting was marked by “traditional warmth and cordiality,” reflecting the enduring strength of the Pakistan-China relationship.
DPM Dar thanked the Chinese leadership and people for their steadfast support during the crisis and reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to the All-Weather Strategic Cooperative Partnership.
Dar also emphasized that resolving the Kashmir dispute in line with UN Security Council resolutions was essential for long-term peace in South Asia.
Welcoming Dar, Foreign Minister Wang Yi described Pakistan as China’s “ironclad friend” and “all-weather strategic partner,” adding that China stands firmly with Pakistan in protecting its sovereignty and national dignity.
He praised Pakistan’s resolute defence during the recent escalation and expressed China’s commitment to jointly promoting regional peace and development.
The two sides reviewed bilateral cooperation in key sectors such as trade, ICT, agriculture, and industrialisation.
They also expressed satisfaction over progress in Phase-II of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) and noted new opportunities for third-party participation in future projects.
Both leaders agreed to enhance coordination at all levels and across multilateral platforms to further their shared objectives of regional stability, economic growth, and sustainable development.
